Arthur defends Ontario's action on climate change on hit show

Thursday, May 24, 2018

Earlier this year Arthur Potts appeared on TVO's Political Blind Date with Alberta MP Shannon Stubbs to defend carbon pricing as an effective tool to fight climate change, and create new jobs.

A long time green entrepreneur and advocate for environmental protection, Arthur took to the TV screen to discuss marrying a price on carbon with affordability for families and economic growth. Arthur argues that Ontario's economy is shifting away from oil and other fossil fuels, while the clean technology sector is exploding.

Now is the time to put a price on carbon. Arthur stresses that pricing carbon will not limit our ability to compete. Rather cap and trade is making Ontario a world-leader in climate protection and green innovation, and fund essential programs. A small price on carbon can have a huge impact. Arthur describes how a four cent tax on the price of gasoline funds energy retrofits for social housing, helps major polluters such as the cement industry reduce their emissions, and helps shift Ontario toward renewable energy.
