As I reflect on last night’s election, I have focused most on what a pleasure it has been to represent this wonderful area for the past four years. Lisa and I made the upper beach our home after the last election, and I have come to love the community and the many institutions and organizations that make it so special.
I have made some very solid friends, built some excellent relationships and look forward to continuing my involvement here.
I know that I got caught up in the strategic voting to mobilize against the blue wave, or tsunami as it turned out, and that not being re-elected was not an indictment of my tenure here. I have very much appreciated the many thoughtful notes and posts from people who valued the efforts I put in these past four years. They do cushion the blow.
I wish Rima my very best for this term. She ran a principled and thoughtful campaign and I know she will find the opportunity to serve at Queen’s Park as rewarding as I did.
I would also like to thank all my staff who have worked so hard to help constituents where needed and who have assisted me in fulfilling my role as one of the busiest MPPs at Queens Park. I couldn’t have done it all without you. Your loyalty and dedication to your work has been inspirational.
On a final note, I would also like to thank my MPP colleagues, and especially Kathleen Wynne, who was an inspirational leader. We didn’t get everything right, but I do believe we made a positive difference in these past four years building up our province.
I look forward to seeing you in the neighbourhood and to making positive change for our community.
